Friendship Village

In 1998, the Korea Housing Builders Association launched a project to establish an agricultural settlement for 1,000 Koryo-in households. However, due to the IMF financial crisis and insufficient on-site surveys, the project was halted after only about 30 households were constructed. The project resumed after 2004 with the support of the Northeast Asia Peace Solidarity, as well as social organizations and individuals. The area is comprised of Ujeong-ro, Arirang-ro, Tupikobaya-ro, Daehan Housing Construction-ro, Pyeonghwa-ro, and Saemaeul-ro. In 2005, the Solbin Cultural Center opened, serving as a village hall and a hub for volunteer and exchange activities.
